ORIGINS OF  H E N N A

Henna (also known as Mendhi in Hindu) is a natural and ancient art form that has been practiced for thousands of years in India, Africa, Pakistan, and throughout the Middle East. It began as a way for the desert dwelling people of these regions to beat the heat. A paste was made from the dried and ground up leaves of the henna plant and applied to the hands and feet to create a cooling effect. After observing the way the paste left stains on the skin people began using it for decorative purposes. Henna is most notably known today as the Hindi tradition of bridal party and quest decoration at Indian weddings but more recently it has gained popularity throughout the West. In addition to body art, henna paste is also used as a hair dye, restorative hair treatment, and is known as a medicinal herb that’s used topically for its anti-aging, wound healing, and anti-inflammatory properties.

I create fun and unique henna tattoos and am available for both private sessions and parties. All of the henna paste I use I prepare myself using only high quality henna powder, and essential oils. It is pure henna paste, free from any artificial chemicals.
